History
Delta-Q was founded by Ken Fielding and Rob Cameron in September 1999 with a vision to improve the performance of electric drive vehicles through the delivery of advanced power electronics. Through intensive market research, Delta-Q identified an opportunity to provide sophisticated high frequency battery charging technology to electric drive vehicles, and to then broaden the product offering to include integrated power electronics solutions. Several OEMs aided our design team during the early design process, and helped Delta-Q deliver the QuiQ charger, a product that meets the needs of a wide range of customers. Development of a broad range of discrete and integrated products continues at a rapid pace.
What’s in a name?
Delta-Q’s name was developed on two levels. Simply put, it describes what our initial products do: change the state of charge. Delta (or Δ) is the international scientific symbol for change, and Q is the international electrical symbol that represents state of charge of a battery or capacitor, measured in Coulombs. On another level, Q represents quality in manufacturing terms. Combined, Delta-Q reflects an improvement in both the quality of charger and the charge delivered to the batteries through advanced, sophisticated, high efficiency power conversion technologies and advanced proprietary battery charging algorithms.
