Neighborhood Electric Vehicles
Neighborhood Electric Vehicles, or Low Speed Vehicles, are a special class of pure electric vehicle licensed for on-road use in many jurisdictions. NEVs can be either passenger vehicles or utility vehicles, and their use is expanding because they meet a variety of usage applications for “clean and green” transportation solutions. These vehicles are usually speed-limited to 25 mph or 40 km/h, and can only be driven on roads with posted speeds of 40 mph or 60 km/h. Typical applications include gated communities and resorts, theme parks, airports, campuses, and intra-city couriers.
