Delta-Q Presents Paper at
Stuart Evans outlines design considerations and Delta-Q’s approach to PHEV charging
Burnaby, BC – December 4, 2007 — Delta-Q Technologies is pleased to announce that Stuart Evans, the company's Director of Sales, today presented a paper titled "Chargers Integral to PHEV Success" at the 23rd International Battery, Hybrid and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Symposium & Expo (EVS-23) in Anaheim, California. Delta-Q’s products significantly improve the performance of today’s electric drive vehicles used in transport, recreational, industrial and materials handling applications. The QuiQ charger has proven very popular, with over 100,000 units shipped worldwide. This rapid growth is because of the product’s small size, low cost, light weight rugged design, and core technologies. Automakers are starting to embrace the PHEV concept. Delta-Q’s approach has been based on proven high frequency charger technologies available today, adapted to support higher voltages for PHEV integrators and research projects. Understanding both the on-vehicle environment and the AC supply infrastructure is critical to the development of the ideal PHEV charger. The QuiQ charger has an excellent feature-set for the industrial BEV market that it was designed for, but the PHEV applications required added features, functionality and communication. The first PHEV charger to be released is the basic 1.4kW model, with high power chargers following close behind. The new 1.4kW PHEV charger can be adapted to a wide variety of vehicle platforms. By delivering lower costs for OEMs and lower operating costs for users, Delta-Q’s products significantly improve the performance of today’s electric and plug-in hybrid electric drive vehicles.
