Digital Power is the next advancement in power conversion technology, as disruptive as the transition from low frequency to high frequency conversion. Digital Power results in improved performance, more reliable systems, and overall cost reduction.
Instead of incorporating analog control circuitry dedicated to controlling the power conversion, Delta-Q’s latest chargers use a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) programmed with sophisticated software. With the DSP’s flexibility in generating any control signal desired, the charger’s circuitry cost and size are greatly reduced. Accuracy of charge is improved since software, unlike analog control circuitry, does not change from unit to unit or over time. Because the number of parts is fewer, reliability and MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of the charger are increased. The technology also provides an enhanced path to future integration since a DSP can easily control other power management functions such as motor control, simply by incorporating different software.
